Joseph Junkere

Creative Engagement Coordinator

JJ is a director and participation practitioner who trained at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and on the ATG Director/Practitioner Programme. He began his career making theatre with and for young people in schools, youth theatres and community spaces.

Previously, JJ was Head of Participation at Collective Acting Studio and a Teaching Artist with Disney Theatrical Group, delivering workshops to thousands of young people. As a director, he made his West End debut with Bindweed by Martha Loader at the Ambassadors Theatre. Further credits include Three Black Boys Living in Zone 6 Waiting for the World to End (Dugdale Arts Centre), The Windrush Play Chronicles (Hoxton Hall / Arts Depot), I Am Not Black (Camden People’s Theatre) and Buckets (Hackney Showroom), and associate directing Wicked for the British Council in New Delhi. He has also worked with Theatre Deli and Collective Acting Studio.

JJ’s practice is rooted in ensemble, movement and music. He is drawn to work that gets people on their feet — thinking, playing and making together.
