World premiere of urgent dance trilogy at Aviva Studios in 2025
The award-winning Figures in Extinction will have its world premiere at Aviva Studios, Manchester in February 2025. Co-created by our Artistic Director Simon McBurney and choreographer Crystal Pite, this moving and timely new work is the culmination of their four-year collaboration across continents, exploring the age of disconnection.
For the first time, audiences can experience the complete trilogy, including the never-before-seen third instalment.
Figures in Extinction [1.0] – a sweeping exploration of species and environments we have lost and are losing – premiered in 2022, receiving the top prize for a dance production at the 2022 Nederlandse Dansdagen. Figures in Extinction [2.0] But then you come to the humans which premiered in February 2024, is a searing look at our need for connection in a separated world. Figures in Extinction [3.0] will offer a spark in the darkness as to where we – collectively, spiritually, and imaginatively – might go next.
Figures in Extinction will be at Aviva Studios 19 – 22 February 2024 before touring the Netherlands.
A co-production with Nederlands Dans Theater. Co-commissioned by Factory International, Manchester.
Co-produced by Schrit_tmacher Festival, Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg and Montpellier Danse.
