The Dark is Rising nominated at the BBC Audio Drama Awards

We are thrilled that The Dark is Rising has been nominated in two categories at the BBC Audio Drama Awards: Best Adaptation and Best Use of Sound.

The Dark is Rising is a 12-part dramatisation for radio of Susan Cooper‘s classic 1970s novel for families. Originated by Complicité and Simon McBurney, directed and adapted for radio by Simon McBurney with co-adaptor Robert MacFarlane, it is a co-production by Complicité and Catherine Bailey Productions commissioned in 2022 for BBC World Service by Simon Pitts.

Starring Toby Jones, Harriet Walter, Paul Rhys and Simon McBurney with an ensemble cast and 13-year old, Noah Alexander as Will. With original music by actor and singer-songwriter Johnny Flynn (Emma, Ripley, The Dig), Luisa Gerstein and Heloise Tunstall-Behrens. Sound design is by Olivier and Tony Award-winner Gareth Fry (The Encounter).

The BBC’s 13th Annual Celebration of Audio Drama, these awards celebrate the creativity of actors, writers, directors, producers, musicians, sound designers and all who work in this vibrant art-form.

The winners will be announced on Sunday 24 March 2024 in a ceremony in the Radio Theatre at BBC Broadcasting House London.
