Masterclasses

The roots of Complicité’s work can be traced back to the training of its members, many of whom studied at the Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris. It has had a profound influence on the Company’s approach to theatre making and is at the heart of the Company’s Masterclasses.

Our practice lies in devising and collaboration, and we encourage playfulness, risk taking and willingness to fail.

Twice a year Complicité holds open Masterclasses in London led by a key Associate and focusing on a specific topic. These three-day Masterclasses are open to performers and artists who are interested in refreshing their practice or exploring a new avenue. Past Masterclasses have covered the Satirical Clown, Making Space, and The Story Through Sound Design.

“It was an absolute privilege and pleasure to work with such an exciting and groundbreaking company. The workshop was an intense and liberating couple of days and was worth every penny. I will use the skills and exercises in everything I do. At the end I was overwhelmed after meeting and learning with such a lovely group of people that were open, kind, and not afraid to take risks.” Masterclass Participant
“I now have a profound desire to take what we experienced and bring out to the space as soon as possible. The group was beautifully diverse, I felt an incredible job was done to include such a variety of people. I grew 10 times bigger over the weekend, mentally, physically and emotionally. Thank you for a wonderful experience.” Masterclass Participant
