He is a graduate of the American Repertory Theatre’s Institute for Advanced Theatre Training. Theatre includes The Little Flower of East Orange, directed by Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Public Theatre, New York) and The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, directed by Simon McBurney. Film includes Office Space, K-Pax, Requiem for a Dream, Bad Santa, The War Within, The Guru and Loins of Punjab Presents.

He was nominated for an Independent Spirit award for his performance in Richard Linklater’s SubUrbia.

Ajay directed and starred in the feature film Ashes, for which he won the 2011 Best Actor Award at the London Asian Film Festival as well as Best Actor at the New York Indian Film Festival. Television includes Lateline, The Sopranos, West Wing and Bored to Death. As an emcee his credits include Talvin Singh’s Mercury Award-winning OK.
